Lived here my whole life and never knew this was here. What an amazing hike! I took some amazing photos! Enjoy!
Camped out at Mantle Rock as a boy scout in the mid 1960's. A nature hunters paradise. Loved the lizards, snakes and unusual "worm snakes" found under logs and many species of salamanders. Just be careful with the snakes. I once went venom hunting with a MSU College Herpetologist. You would be surprised how many Copper Head and Water Moccasins lurk in the rock crevasses. But have a good time anyway they are NOT hunting for you!
Amazing gem hidden in the Kentucky countryside. Not much allure to the Originals Trail of Tears portion, Trail overgrown & weedy in Summer. Stick towards Natural Arch trail & around rock bluff
Enjoyed visit to Mantle Rock again The informative signs were nice to read. Of course there is a sadness involved remembering what the Cherokees had to endure with so many lives lost . It was also sad to see all the high weeds at the entrance and on part of trail path. I want to visit again and hope to find better weed maintenance...It was a nice Sun afternoon visit.
Loved our visit when we lived and worked in Kentucky. So nice to see such beauty of God's creation still in a natural state. Enjoyed our walk to and from the rock. Worth the visit!
